Your Flying Dreams

I had two flying dreams last night that I woke up and remembered. I was thinking that we all probably have some worth sharing ??

Yesterday I was flying west of Columbus and ceilings were going down. Next thing I am skimming the ground and then find my self flying this road. Before I could turn I was flying down a main street in some dinky town going under wires and three different traffic lights, but luckily there was no traffic and the people on side walks just watched me go by. On the other side of town the ceiling went up some so I was fumbling with the phone trying to text Greg Swingle this story.....then I woke up!

Crazy stuff.

John
Thought you might have been flying over New Carlisle, but you would have to been flying north or south over RT. 235 to have seen 3 traffic lights. Dayton Approach may have been interested?

Congratulations, you were starring in the movie "The Cannonball Run", where Burt Reynolds' character lands a Maule in the middle of the town to buy beer =D>

Re: Your Flying Dreams

My flying dreams always include me about to fly some aircraft I've never flown, and tasked with having to takeoff from some tight situation like a city street. My other flying dream is me actually flying and flapping my arms like a bird. Works pretty well, actually, but I mainly levitate, pretty poor cruise speed.

I have had the same flying dream many times. The take offs are pretty intensive, but once I am off the ground, I soar like a bird. Always a tree or building I have to clear, but always just make it. Landings are always a non-event. The flights that are scary are the ones when I forget to put my clothes on and no where to hide.

Okay, weird, but they are my dreams.

Re: Your Flying Dreams

Ive had reoccurring dreams before of flying in confined places. I dont know what it means in my sub - conscious , but I am always flying low over the city/highway and dodging guy wires from antennae that are strung all over, never getting to climb up through them.

Crazy how our brains work.

Re: Your Flying Dreams

When I was 5 or 6 after my first plane ride in a J3 I always had a dream that I could fly. Sometimes it ended with me falling but landing light as a feather. I never would get hurt no matter what else happened during the dream I could always land safe. Except for one time I dreamed I was in flight and then at the end of the dream I was free falling again, faster and faster, thinking I would never be able to slow down enough for the feather landing. And I didn't, I crashed with a thud. Next morning I woke up on the floor with a knob on my head. Damn bunk bed railing.
This is a true story.

Now I dream I am flying and THEN I go to bed. Its called BCP videos.

Re: Your Flying Dreams

One time I dreamt that I was flying a white and burgundy Stinson between Sundance and Spearfish. I woke up between Sundance and Spearfish... The cruise was still set on 78. And I was piloting a 93 GMC, instead. Right down the snow-filled median. #-o

I tend to get more sleep between trips these days. Not sure why I thought I didn't have the time to pull over for a nap. Turns out there's plenty of time to sleep- as long as you're not already dead on the side the road.

Same here, and like Patrol Guy's dream.

My best though was I'd landed in the "park" of the Empress of the Sea (worlds largest cruise ship) and was walking the ship looking for a place to takeoff. All the passengers and crew were blase about it, no big deal. I woke up before the takeoff.

I got this signed copy by the cartoonist, it originally appeared in Air& Space magazine. I also got his permission to print a few t-shirts. THAT'S how much it "spoke to me".

Re: Your Flying Dreams

My flying dream..sometimes I wonder when I'm flying if it is really a dream...never dreamed I would be doing this.
Never had a dream about flying, but I've went off a cliff in a car..always woke up before I hit.
Most of the dreams I have I can't talk about on this site..Uncle Z would ban me..but they are still dreams..the kind you DON"T want to wake up from!

Re: Your Flying Dreams

I had a recurring flying dream for a while, in which my daughter and I were in a biplane flying basic aerobatics. Usually, in the middle of a loop, she'd fall out of the plane and I'd wake up... not sure whether I was screaming just in the dream or as I awoke.
Strangely enough... I eventually stopped considering a biplane to fly, and the dreams stopped.

My best dream "state" was when flying over Lake Maumelle with Enya's Only Time on my mp3 player... around sunset. Yeah, I was in a spam can Cherokee 180 at the time, but that didn't take anything from the moment.

And yes, I did get a picture. 8)

Re: Your Flying Dreams

Interesting how many of us have sort of the same type of dreams. My flying dreams usually consist of soaring, floating in the air and I've even remember a dream where I was flying a small plane and had to keep clearing wires

But last night I had a dream where I was riding in the front row of an airliner right behind the pilots. There was no partition and I had an awesome view out the front windows as we took off from San Diego in a very steep climb. Next thing I knew we leveled off and then started to buzz homes, roads, and trees. Weird!! Then that was it. I must of woke up or something.

Re: Your Flying Dreams

Thats funny, I have had similar dreams of taking off from a busy city street and not being able to find a way through the power lines.
