YouTube: Dead Stick Takeoff

Instead of flying around hoping the engine does'nt quit, he has the option of starting his "reserve" engine. I thought it was pretty cool.

If you look at his other videos you will see he's spent a fair bit of time flying 'round that area. I've flown with him and I must say - it seemed as though he was born with that Highlander strapped to his behind. He just posted one flying with his wife - the laughter cracks me up.
The Highlander has manual flaps.
Don't think I'll ever do that with mine, but I'm about to find out how much fun they are to fly as I'm ready for Federation Against Aviation inspection.

I think it's great too!!! Somebody said something about calculating accelleration and length.....well isn't that what you do every time you pull the trigger on a takeoff??? In my mind, there's nothing dumb at all about what he did.... like someone else said... if the rock's coming close, just steer around it.....seems like he had alot of options to me. Well done!!

He's still at it. This time landing on a small butte. Looks like he's having a blast.

VERY COOL!!
This video is just as cool as the the dead stick one. I'll have to go out to the Owyhee's and try to find that butte. Too bad my 182 can't land there.
