Yute Air?

Hello,
See a post that Yute Air Alaska has ceased operations today. Is this true and why? Old name around the Delta for years, maybe another comeback in the future.

It's true. Don't know what happened, yet.
They were on wx hold at noon, then four hours later, "Sorry, we just closed our doors for good."
I worked for them through most of the versions of the company. From the Will Johnson days through being bought out by Flight International/Flight Alaska. During one of the transitions, I was running Yute as a one pilot/one airplane outfit for a few months up in Kotz while they reorganized.
Lots of fond memories there, and because of Yute I learned to love a Sled.

Interesting....flown in Yute sleds many many times in the last 11 or 12 years. They sure moved a lot of freight for us over the years.

The chatter from friends living in Kipnuk is that Ravn bought Yute out.
Wonder if this is the end of the end for the Sleds...
As far as I know, Yute never had a pax fatality. Broken arm or two from crashes, but we never killed anyone. That's actually pretty amazing considering the thousands of hours flown in those old Sleds, the wx we flew in, and old village strips prior to the kerosene days and fancy new runways.
Pilots... Different story. A bunch of guys didn't make it home.

I grew up in DLG and flew with the old Yute Air to school sporting events and yearly beach trips etc. They had quite the menagerie of planes back then DC-3, Otter, Goose, Widgeon and of course the Sleds. Even flew for the operation for a bit in the mid 90's when Johnson was running the show. Sad to see it go.

Wow, that will certainly change the landscape of flying the Y/K delta.
