Zane is coming to Alaska!!

So it is true. Z man is coming to AK April 23rd to stay with us for a week. If there are any members that would like to come down and meet up that would be really cool. There are a few other members that will be there at that time as well.

I know he wont ask himself so I thought I would put this out there. He is going to need a place to store is ski gear (in Anchorage) after he comes to see us so that he is not carting it all over the state while he takes in the sites.

I know he could also utilize a reliable car if anyone out there has one.

I just figure I would through it out there as many of us spend A LOT of time here on this FREE site to entertain out flying bug.

Anyone have any ideas?

Here is where he will be spending his first week: (sorry for the spam)

FWIW we have a 1995 Honda civic that we have left in Birchwood(just north of Anchorage) with our friends for just such an occasion. We use it on our few visits to the big city, otherwise our friends use it occasionally and they lend it out if someone they know needs wheels temporarly or people we know come to town. Our friends make sure it gets serviced and its a nice set-up since during the summer, finding a rental can be challanging, let alone what it will cost you

So Zane, if your interested, PM me and we'll get you on the schedule.

Pretty friggin' excited. Kevin, you are the Man. I am super lucky to have made the friends I have through here. The nice thing is, you all want to talk about the same thing I think about all day long...airplanes.

Currently working on scheduling out an itinerary for April 30-May 7. I have a few BCPers' information, and hopefully can hook up and share some beer or coffee or something.

One of the things Kevin suggested is to do a little road tripping and see the sights. Down to Homer? Up to Talkeetna? Over to Valdez?

I checked out car pricing...not bad if you don't rent at the airport. There seems to be some egregious fees associated with that.

Going to bump the new shirts/hats/sweatshirts up the list of things to get done ASAP so I can identify my people at the Airmen's show.

Zane,
I have a brother in Fairbanks that may be able to assist if you get up that way, as in a spare set of wheels. He's a non pilot, but is good friends with a guy up there (Cliff Everet) who runs a big freight serivce, has DC-4's and other interesting planes. PM if that'll help and have fun.

Z. I do not even know my schedule or if I will try to make town for the AAA, but if you catch an Everts to Port Alsworth, I am only 15 minutes away. That does not include the prep time, but you must have my email addy. Stay in touch and perhaps you can see and fly some of the bush.

I'll be in Anchorage on May 1 for the trade show and the 2-5 for work. Let's do dinner if you're around town then.

Z, don't think I'll have the amphib up there yet, but might ride a smoker up for the show in Anchorage, might have to stay the week and go to the Val. the next weekend. If I can't find a plane, could car pool.
Hope to see you all there.

Re: Zane is not coming to Alaska. :(

I regret to inform my Alaskan friends that Erin and I have canceled our trip. The reasons are many, but they mostly involve saving money for our home improvements (and our backyard wedding in Sept), and the fact that the end of April is a critical time for my job. I hope to pull it together for next year.

Nuts!
Hopefully the right time will come along soon. You've got a raincheck on all the perks I offered up. Hope you and Erin can use them eventually.
