170 belly pod?

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

170 belly pod?

Anyone ever hear of someone putting a bellypod on a 170? I know there is no certified version out there but maybe something that could get a field approval ? I assume a 180 belly pod wouldn't fit.

A 180 pod would probably fit. On the other hand there is a saying about "just because you can, doesn't mean you should".

It's so incredibly easy to get a 170 over gross with the space already available, no need to add more space AND drag.

What he ^^ said. Especially a stock 170. If you have a bigger engine, install an extended baggage, and go fly. Pod would be a bad idea, in my opinion.

I went a fair way down this rabbit hole and as MTV has pointed out there isn't any light at the end of it. I reversed, installed an extended baggage and baggage door instead and would advise that you do likewise.
