This 182 I bought is a good clean/straight, running, but runout engine. It is nearby and I can fly it home. I am trying to decide if I will be able to afford fixing mine with the parts and selling the excess, or inspecting/fixing my engine and putting it in the 182. Last thing I want to happen is to get in the middle of this project and run out of money and have payaments I can't afford and have to have a fire sale to raise money and lose even more.
Thanks for your efforts
Gary

Sounds good Gary. I did check my lotto ticket from last time I was home. Won $2.00  That will get a small bolt or two :D :D

What kinda shape is that 182 in? Seems like there's a guy in Montana who sells a C182TD conversion STC-- maybe it'd be easier/more economical to convert that 182 to tailwheel gear using the required parts out of your 180 fuselage, then part out the 180?

There's a guy out here who has rebuilt quite a few 180/185's, he may have some parts laying around. Jim Hayton/North Sound Aviation, Sedro Wooley WA.

Take the data plate off the 180 and put it on the 182 now it's a real 180

I'm really sorry to hear about this, Gary. That sucks! :(

For better or for worse, most of my 180 parts are still attached to my plane, but I'll ask around locally and see what I can find.

Good luck to you!

Re: 180 crash (who's got some parts for Shortfielder?)

Hey Cory
Thanks
I won't be flying in May. Hoping to be in the air in time for Austin. Alot depends on my work and how the sales of the extra parts goes.
Right now I'll be focusing on getting the engine out, firewall stripped, avionics.instruments out so Mr. Toad can get started on the firewall/boot cowl repair.Next will be engine inspection/mount repair.
Take care Gary

Oh No ! Upsidedown Pancakes,
Man we feel for you, that price for the motor inspection seems high.
When mine was torn down anyway, they did bearings/valves/rings
I know how it feels.. I broke through thin ice twice.
Once with Ins, once without. It was a worse feeling the second time .
I saw a guy break through, bent wing and prop, but flew it home after using some sheet metal and screws in spar.

We might make caveman
Hang in there Gary, lew & Anita
