$4.85 av gas?
Nothing happens without it. Discuss fuel locations, quality, alternatives, and anything else related to this critical resource.

Right around 2300 hours or so total with no problems attributable to the fuel. No plug fouling from so-called "low lead" avgas either. You gotta remember that airplane engines aren't really "high performance" compared to souped-up cars motorcycles & snowmobiles-- the 150 hp O-320 in my airplane is only 7:1 compression, hotrodded to 160hp it's still only 8.5:1.
But different strokes for different folks- if you feel that you don't get satisfactory results with mogas, then by all means stick to 100LL.
X2
Although I haven't compared prices in the last month, I have always saved at least $1.00 per gallon and as much as $1.50 with 92 mogas.
Saving $1.00 per gallon on a 13 gal per hr/1500hr TBO motor leaves $19,500.00 in by bank account.

Avgas at my home field (not the cheapest nor the most expensive around) is $6.25, but I'm paying $4 at the local Cenex (aka Co-op) for 87 octane mogas. Even at only a $2 savings, 8 gph = $16/hour saved. $32K saved over the 2000 hour life of the engine oughta cover a major overhaul as well as some repairs (flat cylinders, etc) along the way.

I am currently getting 88 octane ethanol free auto fuel from a distributor in woods cross, ut for 3.86 per gallon. The current 100ll prices at my home base KSLC are 6.42 per gallon. The difference of 2.50 a gallon saves me about $6k per year in fuel.... or $150 per fillup.

I looked at last months bill, 92 non ethanal averaged for the month was $3.91.
Almost $2.00 a gallon cheaper than 100ll at my field.
Throw in a little MMO to keep the fuel bladders lubed.
Never thought I would be excited about paying "only" $3.91.
