Take a look at Patrick Valkenburg’s book 49 Years in the 49th State

Patrick recently passed away. He was the real deal. He was a retired Department of Fish & Game biologist and he did the real work. He flew our Beaver and Cubs for years. I had the pleasure of being around Pat on a few projects and he’s part of a generation of biologists that will likely never be replaced.

I haven’t read his book yet, but I will. If you like Alaska, airplanes, and wildlife then you should buy this book.

He’s gonna be missed.

Pat was absolutely the real deal. In addition to being a wonderful person, he was a great aviator and a wealth of knowledge.

When I got the text he had passed it was like a gut-shot.

He’ll be missed.

I’ll have to add this to the reading list. Sounds like he was a real solid and accomplished dude.
