Re: $7gal here we come?

AVGas prices are all over the place, got gas yesterday in NM, $6.15 but up the road it’s $4 something, I bet it came off the same delivery truck.

$6.38 for 100LL at my airport here in Puget Sound,
although it's up to a buck cheaper at some other airports.
Fluctuating at a bit over four bucks for 87 octane E-zero mogas at the local Cenex.

Re: $7gal here we come?

Our 100LL is 4.30 and I got some 91 E0 the other day for 3.75 to reduce my "lead" footprint.. From a previous post, someone posted 100LL with no lead is 94 octane. Combine that with 25 to 30% ethanol and you'd have a true 100 octane fuel with very little loss of range. I'm going to make quite a bit of money from my ethanol plant investments this year because management must be doing a very good job of hedging corn and selling ethanol and distillers grain. Still the wholesale price of the ethanol right now is 2.45 a gallon. Why is it Brazil and the Vanguard Team from South Dakota can make it work but no one else?

You are right, it is limited. I think it because of the expensive system and having to use water methanol. They told me they can get one time STCs for almost any high wing Cessna with a fuel injected Continental. They’ve done it on several different models with various engines.

The water methanol system is needed though. It kicks on at like 25” on MP or higher and CHTs of 380 or higher. Our air cooled engines run higher CHTs that liquid cooled engines and CHT temps affect detonation margin.

I live at a higher elevation so I can’t get over about 23.5” of manifold pressure. So I just carefully manage my CHTs and my engine runs happily on 91 pump gas. If I do something stupid, like leave the mixture lean when shoving in the throttle, it will detonate but it can do the same thing on 100LL if the conditions are right…or wrong.

Saw this, but who sells it? https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all ... cxTkSvCZsQ

I see the boat lobby, with more horsepower than GA, gets to keep pumping no-ethanol premium (91 or 94). Some of the gas stations here sell boat gas at their pumps.

Hmmm

“ and the use of leaded gasoline bong resins has been linked to lower IQs and higher rates of violent crime.”

I would love to know how they extrapolated that fact

Re: $7gal here we come?

No AvGas for me, well not mandated anyway. The FAA’s new list of approved engines for MoGas covers me.

The BH Companion will live on primarily Non-Ethanol 91 for $1.80 (as of yesterday) less a gallon than the AvGas at KHCR

Yup, AOPA is the NRA of aviation, cool glossy magazine, always bug you for money, but more effort in selling baseball caps and flying around in their private nets, than actually protecting the cause.
