This is along the lines of my planned mount. Do you get any vibrations in your video or is it smooth ? I would be using 1080p 60 frames per second

I think getting a camera out of the prop wash and as close to the end of the strut as possible goes a long way towards eliminating the "jello" effect.
Now all we need is for GoPro to make a camera/battery combo that gives some duration or an IR remote that does not suck the battery dry like the stupid WiFi remote they use.

Other choice is to turn it on before take off and then battery then dies due to videoing miles and miles of miles and miles as well as filling up your card. As a result I tend to mount the camera in the cockpit and take video through the windscreen.

Here's the trick: Choose wifi, but use the keychain remote instead of your phone. You can still control everything. Turn the camera off when you aren't using it. I did a test a while back and the gopro will stay in sleep mode for, literally, days with almost no power usage just listening for something to contact it and turn it back on.
As a bonus, if you ever run more than one camera it's much easier to manage them in this setup because you'll have multiple remotes instead of having to attach your phone to different wifi access points to manage each camera.

Ball Mount Adapter: https://everythingaviationcameras.com/p ... let-mount/
Camera Case: https://everythingaviationcameras.com/p ... ase-mount/
Filter Kit: https://everythingaviationcameras.com/p ... low-light/
The mounting equipment is all very high quality machined/anodized aluminum. The systems looks slick and well thought out. It wasn't super cheap, but actually pretty inexpensive considering what I received.
I'll be testing the setup this weekend and let you know how it all works.

This is great news ! I'm using the Hero 4 Silver with wifi and keychain remote. So if I turn on the camera wifi so the blue light is blinking, there is very little battery drain until I actually use the remote to turn on and use the camera ?
