AG mechanic to A&P
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
Who here has experience making this transition or maybe has some words of advice for somebody considering this? I currently work as an Ag mechanic and am working toward my private pilot. Getting more exposure to aviation has me wondering if working on GA planes would be the way to go. What kind of training is required for someone with a strong mechanical background?

Local junior college with an A&P program? Find a shop where you can apprentice?

You will do great, it's about how you think not the tools of the trade in your hands.

You'll be fine. Mechanics basics and principals are really quite the same, no matter what you're working on. I do both, as well as heavy equipment. Been an A&P since '85 and an IA since 88. Never quit learning and thinking and you'll enjoy it all!!!
