I was driving by Alton Bay (B18) today and they were plowing the runway.
It is 100' wide and 2600' long and they will be making the taxiways in the next few days.
The parking area is at the south end by the restaurants.
Please call the Alton Bay Ice Runway hotline for the latest information. 603-875-3498

I wanted to get out this week and fly in the area and land at Alton bay but it is looking like its going to be a bit breezy this week. Hampton needs to be plowed, I don't have the 31's on the Husky yet.
Are you off this week Rob? You going flying?

I'm looking forward to flying up to Alton Bay this Wednesday. It's going to be my first time at the iceport, might continue up to Bowman for a look around,

Hello Kurt -
I did not know you were G44. I have the month off and am planning on heading to the Bahamas on Wednesday. I wanted to leave earlier but with the 30+ knot headwinds we had this past week walking would have been faster. Forecast winds for Wednesday are directly out of the North ~25 knots.
Please say hello to Kent for me and I hope he gets back to the left seat soon.
Good luck on your first Ice Landing Bob! Temperatures for Wednesday are to be a little cool. There are quite a few YouTube videos of aircraft landing which may be helpful.

Rob,
It took me a while to figure out it was you. Where is your hangar? PSM? Good luck on your trip, tail winds sound great but hang on, it might be pretty rough! Make sure you post trip report.

There might be a few planes headed to Alton Bay from NH16 on Sunday if things work out.

Sadly, I have to work today and tomorrow, so I will wait until the weekend when the forecast is for rain, snow and freezing rain.

Alton Bay was very good today! The rides were a bit bumpy, not bad though but not that super still silky smooth winter air I was hoping for. Braking action is good for ice, there are some patches of hard packed snow about half an inch or so that hep with braking and maneuvering in the parking area. All in all a great day!
