Another "Home" Strip

I'm not sure if this guy is a BCP'er or not, but it looks like he should be! Pretty cool strip cut out of the timber. In Michigan I think???

Re: Another "home " strip

Made my Saturday 6 am coffee wakeup time at the computer on BCP !
Thanks for posting. Now I am in the mood for a flight for sure.
It is interesting to watch the gear flex also... on touchdown. Almost like slow motion.
I have wondered how much my spring steel gear flexes... and now you have given me an idea. I will point the gopro down for a flight or two and see how it does. I now have it on an inspection cover, and it occured to me yesterday... that on a Cessna, it could be placed in any number of angles and places. The hole pattern is consistent though and I wish I could face it backwards too. Have to work on that.
Where is this woodsy strip ? Nice calm music too. Again, thanks for posting.

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.

Hey guys thanks! Yep, it's me. I posted this on the Rans forum, but hadn't got it here yet. The trees sure loom awful large, but decided to go for it on a still evening. A neighbor let me clear cut another 900 feet to the north last Fall, so now had the option for a go-around if things went south. The graded surface is a quarter mile cut across a wooded 40. My plan was if I touched down beyond the windsock I'd go around, but as you can see I touched down well ahead of it. Touchdown over a 50 foot obstacle was probably like 500 feet. The Rans S7 is a wonderful short-field plane. Plan now is to gear up for a pole building and get rid of the county airport expense. Another Rans guy suggested a fly-in down the road, who knows, maybe a future BCP event? I won't advertise coordinates yet, as still need to investigate liability insurance.

I hate to admit it, but the trees were not personally a big deal. After I designed the clearing/grading/drainage plan (I do this stuff for a living), I hired a logger to clear a 200' swath. The proceeds from the timber sale then completely paid for the stumping and grading work by another contractor. This airstrip project was almost as gratifying as the original plane build.

I thought that the name was familiar. I like the new strip. I want one of my own! Nice video!

Nothing yet. I'm pretty fond of the S7. Saving my coin at the moment! Just living vicariously through everyone else here.
