Anyone heard of a Cessna 182 ACS float kit.

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Not sure of the details but the owner installed the float kit and restored the floats. If more pics are needed I can post them or connect to the owner who lives in New Mexico.

Gary,

Whatever happened to Leonard Nelson’s 182?

I guess you did not purchase this plane? I am looking at buying N5310B, any information you can share would be helpful.
Thanks in advance! John

I asked about this kit and was cautioned that it isn’t particularly robust for rough water, or if you have a bit of a rough landing.

The struts will be specific to the floats and the airplane. Are you buying the airplane with the floats, or planning to aquire floats separately?

The 206 float kits are the ones you’re thinking of. Wiz fixed that by installing a herky x brace on the firewall, which permits higher GW

The plane's at the south end of the Fairbanks Intl floatpond. Have you contacted the owner in New Mexico? I have his phone if needed. Nice C-182.

MTV: Don't know what happened to Leonard's plane. Just that it had a bump at Metro. He's gone, wife moved to town, and Mucha property is/was for sale.

Re: Anyone heard of a Cessna 182 ACS float kit.

Thanks for the info Gary. I am working with Larry. Very helpful owner. Hopefully get the ac through a prebuy and annulled by mid May.
I have about 500 hours in a 182-A/B on wheels prior to 2005.
Mostly tailwheel since then.
I will be looking for a float instructor.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hi John it's a well done C-182 and you'll not be disappointed if it works out. Larry is a meticulous guy with equipment. I talked with him last eve. He's building a Zenith STOL CH 750 and is close to doing the engine and panel. We knew each other and flew/camped while he was in Fairbanks. I rode in that plane and it performs great.

You may have someone locally for you who instructs on floats. In Fairbanks these folks (http://www.proflitealaska.com) do a good job but there may be others. It's a bit uncongested here compared with the Anchorage/Wasilla area so that may be a consideration. It would also let you keep the plane close to the maintenance techs should questions arise after purchase.
