Bonanza Man wrote:It also depends what state you're from. I have talked to each of the three from Montana, as well as various members of their staffs, on issues regarding the FAA. We have had all of them to the tower and have had a chance to bend their ear on several issues. Our congressman is a pilot and when you have a pilot issue it's easy to get a response. We've had two of the three to the backcountry strips over the years. And not the third only because he's early in his first term. Our guys are relatively accessible, if you're from a big state, good luck.

Good on ya, Bonanza Man! Keep up the good fight! Idaho ain't no "big state", but our guys ain't pilots either. They're just terrified Republicans [-(

It was killed by The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

The last Congress gave us some completely nonbinding lip service as to how they're committed to preserving access to BC strips. I suppose this is a case of some support is better than none.

I for one think we as BC pilots should support our government advocacy groups such as the AOPA and the RAF. They work for us on Capitol Hill and help keep us informed. =D>

Unfortunately there's no guarantee we will continue to have access to the BC. There is constant pressure against recreational BC aviation from environmental groups. If we want to continue to get out and play in the sticks, we need to keep ourselves informed, educate non-pilots as to the importance and fun of BC aviation, and continue to responsibly enjoy these great places.
