Baja

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Baja

Getting in doesn't seem as much challenge as getting back. My airport of entry will be San Felipe going south as well as my airport departure coming back into the states. Calexico will be my US port of entry coming back north. The challenge here is you must file with customs and give them one hours notice before you land. San Felipe to Calexico is only about a half an hour. You have to climb high enough to make radio contact with FSS to open your flightplan and you must give them one hour before you land.

Correct me f I'm wrong, but you are already providing them with 1 hour of notice prior to arrival when you call customs from San Felipe and have a submitted APIS, the length of the actual flight shouldn't matter. You don't have to open your flight plan with FSS 1 hour before arrival, just provide the notice 1 hour before arrival.
Yes you still have to open that flight plan as soon as practicable with FSS during the flight. The RCO's down there now are strong enough to communicate with most of the time.

You could have all of this done before you leave the states on your trip, if you know your eta. If your time of arrival changes then just amend that with CBP.
