I'm also building a Bearhawk 4P from a quick build kit in Sisters OR. I work in Portland though and fly back and forth to Twin Oaks - would love to see your project if you are up for it.

Sure man. It's at my house though in Lake Oswego. Maybe some time this summer you can swing by for a beer and the project tour.

Cut those leg fairings NOW for the Bushwheels to fit. What you,ve done so far looks top shelf.

Wow! Zane, you've got a great setup, but it's wayyyyy to clean. Can't wait to fly formation with you to Chukar! 8)

Boy O Boy that is one tough inspector you have going over the plane. Does he really think he needs to inspect the flare on the gas lines for being correct. Your in for a tough haul with an inspector like that.
Nice call on the QB kit, we scratch built our Bearhawk. We had just finished ours when the kits came out so QB was not an option. While the Bearhawk is not marketed as a back country plane it is one, bigtime.
Congratulations on starting the journey.

Zane you should have done ... and placed the ... over there. Or moved the ... by the.... position and then your ... isn't quite right either. But I guess some people like to have the ... on the right side instead of the left where the ... can interfere with the ...

(hey, somebody needs to give you some grief. :D )

What he said... I suggest doing it NOW... those fairings are the biggest pain, of many pains in my ass at the moment.

Sure you will need to do a little welding (probably) but the job will NEVER be easier than it is right now. P.s. I clamped my fuel selector valve too.

I am in your camp with the kitlog, I ended up so busy building that I never got around to it. Just 3000 photos and a timesheet.

Re: Bearhawks at Llano

I'm pretty comfortable doing a little cutting and welding. Battson did you just remove part of the fairing per the engineering notice from '09? Curious what the finished solution looks like for covered legs running big tires.

Re: Bearhawks at Llano

I haven't done it yet - thus the PITA factor. I wish I had done it, when I was at the stage you're at now.
