alright guys! Im starting a competition here!

Who has the best approach on there home strip!

the winner will be decided when I remember and finally get around to it, in the mean time I'm going to happily sit here and look at photos of what your approach looks like. the prize however is a big one!

you will get.....exclusive.....lifetime.....bragging rights!

this all stemmed from when I was flying in over the ocean on approach to runway 23, beach, countryside, hills and bush all infront of me. Rains had not long come through so everything was lovely and green, I look to the north to see Australia's endless coastline stretching off for ever, to the south the beautiful Byron Bay. in the distance I see both mount warning and mount Chincogan and I thought to myself, Tyagrah's runway 23 would have to have one of the best approach's in the world

So try and prove me wrong. grab some photos of the approach to your home strip. good or bad, show us the view you get when coming home to land.

I think you aren't going to get much competition! And I happen to be quite fond of my approach in Wisconsin!

Tim, this thread may have to run for a while - it's still winter here in the Land Up Over...

Winter has some pretty nice views around here but the approach to the airport is kind of bland. I'll post so I can say I was NO. 2 behind the Drifter in the competition...until someone else posts and knocks me out of the running. Note: photos are from the passenger seat. No fiddle farting with camera's in the pattern.

I wish, but until California falls into the Pacific, I can only do the driest approach……..but the beer tastes better once you land, though…...

This is one of those rare scenarios where the coolest photos are never taken because you're busy working the aircraft. So unless your pax is taking shots... the best approaches are never captured. Embarrassing that these are all paved, relatively urban strips.

I dunno about that mike, to a fella who's yet to see snow, a white approach is simply spectacular!

Thats one of the other good things about the drifter mate, once you set up on final, you still got an hour to kill before you make it to the ground!

You nailed it, Drifter, this is coming into Leadville, CO, (KLXV) and when I turned off the runway I was out of annual….honest….

I could certainly take you on for driest approach with some of the strips i muster from! But there not my home strip so that would be cheating!

And probably the most desolate…. this is actually my strip at my cabin, so it's not really my home base. And there's no longer any alcohol since OregonMaule stopped by…..

This is one of my most memorable approach/departures. The scenery is top notch, its remote, and getting in and out is interesting enough that my pulse quickens thinking about it........

The video quality is not great as it was shot on my iPhone looking through the windscreen. Unfortunately, the sun glare detracts from the picture, but you can tell what's going on. I had a good buddy orbiting overhead, and you can hear some of our conversation starting after I land.

No sound in the video except a short section of dialogue over the radio/intercom about half way through to the end.

Though I must say, by what ive seen so far, lesthur has claimed the barging rights so far! until someone else throws something better up. Im waiting for Battason to through up a photo of an approach to Milford sound.....then we've all lost!
