Oh, low rider, you have no idea how close you came to nailing it. Yes, I am a crotchety old man, indeed. Righteous?? Not hardly. As in not even close. Have I ever been wrong about anything in my whole life??? Holy shit, dozens of times, Dude.

The difference is we didn't have cute chicks in bikinis jumping off the wings of our Grummans in my day.

We actually WORKED airplanes in my world.....they weren't toys that we played with. As a consequence, the folks who helped us keep those airplanes running smoothly were every bit as valuable to our operation as we were.....actually, a lot more important. Need a new pilot? No sweat, we could have one on the payroll next week...... Need a new F Atlee Dodge or JJ Frey, or Roger Borer, or......any of a couple dozen others.....those weren't as easy to come by. So you treated those folks politely and with utmost professionalism. Because the difference was, you're stuck in Fort Yukon or Allakaket for a couple days or a month.....your choice.

I grew up in a world where vendors didn't owe me anything. But, if I needed their help, stuck out in a swamp in the middle of a mosquito infested swamp, I tended to be pretty polite when I contacted them for assistance. Mosquitos tend to influence one's polite factor......

So, yes, I'm a miserable, curmudgeonly old fart. I earned it. You can follow my lead, or divert however you choose. This is, after all, the internet. Nobody says you have to listen to or even read, anything I post.

So, please, in future, for your mental health, and for my patience, in future, please don't read any of my posts on this forum.

I simply offer suggestions. You can take those any way you choose to. You can put those in your "toolbox" or you can reject them entirely. Frankly, it makes no difference to me whatsoever. Really, I don't give a shit. So, make yourself happy.

Go off into Never Never Land, and piss off the very few individuals and organizations who are passionate enough about aviation to actually try to earn a living in this world. They are few and far between.

Me, I am in awe of the people who are dedicated enough, and passionate enough about aviation to fight the FAA and the economy and try to make a living in this world that we all love. I'll try to treat those folks like my parents taught me: To treat them like I'd like to be treated.

If that's being a curmudgeon, so be it.....I am guilty as hell, and proud of it.

Thanks for the compliment.

great resource and generally no grey area.

Re: Bitches and concerns

I too lived and worked in a world (crop dusting and patrolling pipeline) where pilots were a dime a dozen and good mechanics were worth their weight in gold. Most addressed safely issues and ignored us when we were just being fussy.

Concern for others well being and safety sometimes comes with grumpiness. In the Army they were called technical inspectors and mess sergeants.
