I have found over the years my head is probably the least important part of my body. Definitely the least used...

I had it explained to me in my hang gliding days that the body can handle some collisions up to 40 mph (I tried a couple at close to 30 mph). The head can handle about 10 mph. The helmet puts your head in the body impact range. Still took me a while to wear one skiing and in the Cub.
