Anyone use the "virtual Panel" contained in most handheld aviation GPS?

Ya I have, I think you cou;ld save your but with the one in the 696., have flown with it with a check pilot in real ifr soup for about 1/2 hour was a touch slow, but was doable in smooth air
Tried it with the IHUD on the Ipad, $5 app?? basic HUD display,
speed, altitude, vsi, compass, slip/skid ball, g meter, artificial horizon rate of turn indicator.
Flew it for awhile, works pretty good, think it might save your butt also.

I just bought this book, published 1938, by Assen Jordanoff. "Through the Overcast", he was quite prolific in the 30's and 40's. I have 3 other's, and all are illustrated and with a bit of humor thrown in, but very informative and educational all at the same time. I like the concept of the instruments bailing out on their little parachutes (who knew) when the pilot insults them by not trusting them, funny and education, always a good combination.Image
