You can take the 175, I'll take the T-craft
Someone mentioned to me years ago that that there were SOME pieces of sheet metal that were thicker in the 175 wing than the (otherwise identical) 172 wing. This was reportedly because of a small increase in gross weight and/or a small increase in permissible speeds from the extra available power.
One real advantage is the 175 uses metal tanks instead of the bladders.
One real disadvantage is (as mentioned) the much loved trimmable tail of the 180 is not on the 175.
Being a lighter airplane than the 180, it stands to reason that if you install an O-470 will make it nose-heavy. Exaceerbated by the lack of the trimmable tail. This may or may not be able to be mitigated by moving the engine back, and replacing some of the accessories with smaller (and lighter) new style alternators, starters, etc. The 175 has the "stepped" firewall that might allow the engine to be moved back a little. But all this becomes an experimental or field approval project.
