Hey folks.
I've a favor to ask to the community with respect to my good friend Wolf Herold...
I know some of you were following along with Wolf on his adventure where he chased his boyhood dream of buying/owning/and exploring the US in a Cessna 170B and are very familiar with his story.
If your not, about six years ago Wolf reached out to me in hopes of finding a nice 170B, which set the two of us together on a long journey, on which eventually we built a really nice Super 170.
Due the fact that he lived in Europe, as well as his age, he eventually, and begrudgingly came to the conclusion that it was time to pass his pride and joy (he called it "Whisky Blue,) on to a new owner. He had it listed, changed his mind, listed it again, changed is mind yet again, and finally, just after the new year, listed it once more for sale.
This last January, the stars aligned, and the Cessna went to a new home, and Wolf found himself free of the painful decision of keeping or selling his bird... we even began talks about downsizing into a simple J3 to possibly have a low-and-slow adventure with this summer.
Unfortunately, in Feb, not a month after he sold his bird, Wolf suffered a serious medical issue and is now currently in hospital undergoing rehabilitation. He is in good sprits, and hopefully can recover, but he has quite a bit of hard work ahead.
I was able speak to him on the phone this AM for the first time, and he wanted me to let any folks that where trying to get a hold of him know that he is feeling ok, but that he'll be out of pocket for a bit. He's been moved from Spain to Switzerland and is having a hard time with his electronics, getting logged into eMail, whatsAp, Signal, Facebook, BCP, etc...
At any rate, Wolf is one of the sweetest guys, and loved sharing his adventures with the BCP community. If you followed him at all, or enjoyed any of his travels/posts, I thought we could return the favor with a get well.
Here's my ask... Seeing he is on his onesies with no immediate family close to him, and no access to electronic communication, I was hoping that folks might reach out and sent him a quick hand written note. If your feeling ambitious, maybe a book on flying, or any other small aviation related token to let him know we're pulling for him. I think if we send stuff out this week, he will still be at the facility by the time it gets to him in Switzerland... hopefully in the next week or so, he might be able to get back on social media and chime in himself.
Anyway, if you have a free moment and can afford a stamp, you can send him a get well at:
Rehabilitation Clinic Bad Zurzach
Attn: Wolf Dietrich Herold
Quellenstrasse 34
5330 Bad Zurzach, Switzerland
He will be there at least another two weeks.
Huge thanks,
Greg-
And in an ironic twist, here is one of his last videos he posted titled "Will my flying go into hibernation."
