us old dirt-bike/pilot guys can take it. ...carry on, shit happens...!
This is an interesting observation. When I used to ride dirt bikes, I wasn't ever thinking about the consequences of bending my bike. Doing the work myself, it was cheap enough to be no big deal. Pretty much the same for running my boat in the river. The plane has been a little different. It is harder to trailer home in the event of a "malfunction", and the expense of extracting and fixing the thing has kept me from being quite as brave in landing in marginal areas.

I understood. And totally agree that it is far preferable to bend metal than people. Your post just got me to thinking about the different attitude I have flying compared to other sports. Part of it may be I'm older and a little more settled down. Back in the day, my buddies and I would drive with a beer between our knees. Sure don't do that any more. And I have never flown in less than the requisite 8 hours. Yup, I'm getting older.

Hi all,
Rereading my and everyone's posts on my accident at Wilson Bar years ago-2009. I learned a lot from the experience and am willing to share. FAA was ok because all paper work was in order. I have another 182 only several months older than my former one. I have been back to Idaho since and have gotten more lessons. I have gotten older and more cautious primarily because I do not fly as much. I am planning to come out to Idaho this summer. More lessons and revisit my haunts and friends. Making plans to see what I want to do when I 'grow up'. Gina and I still fly together. Keep the brown side down.
