Dang. Sure could use a Pocket Winch.
Not everyone has a use for this device, until they do.
As you pointed out, when you need it is the wrong time to discover that you need it

We have several rafters, jet boaters and fly fishing guides carrying the Pocket Winch. It is SO MUCH better than a Z-drag or any pin kit that I've seen.
A lot of early adoption has been in search and rescue, backcountry law enforcement and wilderness hunting and fishing guides.
