Re: East Texada strip

I used to go into that strip in the late '80s with a 150. Don't recall any good reason for it, nobody around and a good hike down to the water.

What about a resurrected Savary Island strip? Or maybe beach landing on the north side at low tide? Daedaluscan, can you check it out?

Clowhom , Quatum River, East Texada and Crawfish Lake are some of the strips on the hit list.
daedaluscan, any idea how high the trees are on either side of the tracked section?

Re: East Texada strip

Finally got down there in the Jeep yesterday.

The strip is exactly 500m long on my sons dirtbike odometer = 1640ft

Trees at either end are at least 50ft.

Runways 30/12. Slopes down to the east end from about mid point. I would guess in on 30 out on 12. It was blowing from the east quite nicely when we were there. 20 min walk to a lovely beach at Anderson bay.

It is a good hour in a 4X4 to get there, and really a lot of clearing required. Thousands of man hours with saws, I think a machine is the only way to go, probably a small cat or a grader.

Re: East Texada strip

WOW! The 50 footers are ok but it is the thousands of 15 footers that are encroaching on the strip that are the problem. Definitely beyond our capability at this point. However there is a pip line easement there. Maybe the pipe line people can be talked into cleaning things up, you never know and if never hurts to ask.
We will do some more research on this end and see what we can do following this route. Thanks for the pictures and we will keep you posted.

Re: East Texada strip

It was a great fly-in. Did not see this until after. No wonder you were impossible to find.
