I don't know anyone there yet. I've got to get over there tomorrow and get a monthly spot or a slot in Hangar 6.

It was kinda funny last evening. I landed several times.....one approach, several touchdowns-----and the only guy around to witness it within a mile or so calls himself Snoopy and runs some sort of operations for the Air Races. So I'm tying the airplane down and emptying out the ton of stuff I lugged home with the airplane and he says "Hey, you want to be part of the Air Race volunteer staff?" Catch a guy in a weak moment and he'll do just about anything eh?

So it just goes to show, anybody can be successful at this game if you can keep the shiny side up......

You figure out what prop you have on there? The only other Luscombe I have flown with was an 8A with a climb prop. He was able to do about 95mph. Luscombes aren't as fast as the books say but for the power they move along pretty good.

The factory seat is horrible but I'm used to it and can last about 4 hours. I had Jack Norris seats and they were way comfortable but I didn't like them for the type of flying I do.

No idea on the prop yet. Mine has ersatz Cessna 150 seats. The problem is NO lumbar support at all and bricks for padding in the seat bottom. Also the seatback angle is needing a little tweaking. The seats are an STC from BAS and look sort of like C-150 but really aren't. That's the shoulder harness company started by Bud Blanchard. I think the seats will work ultimately but I have to fiddle with them. You can put a surprising volume of stuff and nonsense in that baggage compartment. More than I thought.

I saw a couple of gliders working the lift around Montague but that's it. There were a few touch and goes at Roseburg but not another airplane to be seen. This thing of ours is dying my friends. Even 10 years ago a clear weekend would have lots of folks in the air. In the '90s I used to stop at Weed or Montague when running North and South on the left coast. The ramps were full.

I spent the weekend in Yreka for my high school reunion. The ramp at Rohrer Field makes ya want to cry. Absolutely nothing happening. Certainly not the same airport I grew up on and where I learned to fly oh so long ago...

EB, how was the smoke on your trip down? We left about 0830 this morning, and had to go on the gauges from Fall River Mills to Susanville. It was thick.

I just missed it apparently. I had 30 miles plus in very mild smoke and haze on the same route Saturday. Wind forecast at that hour was for light and variable but I could detect a slight drift over the ground indicating a NW wind of some sort.
