Re: Engine is toast turned into full plane project

Looks fantastic. Are those abrasion boots on the hub ends of the prop, or is it a heated prop? Never seen a 180 with a heated prop. If it's abrasion boots, why them instead of the thicker Nicole leading edge? Just curious. Gonna be a real beaut when she's done!

Nope not heated - they are the standard MT abrasion boot for that part of the prop, all MT props have that rubber boot at the root of the blade (I’ve never seen a MT prop with out that black boot portion) the rest of the leading edge is the stainless steel leading edge (I got a great deal on a slightly used 3 blade prop, then sent it in to have it zero timed and blades refinished and painted) the newer MT blades have the nickel leading edge, but they also have the black rubber boot on the root of the blade.

Isn't that Mike's old prop?

Yes that is correct - he swapped out to test the Hartzell Voyager for the STC data on the 180. His 180 is pictured on the Hartzell Voyager website.

Re: Engine is toast turned into full plane project

Seats ready to go in, Daniel @Sport Aircraft Seats worked with me on the custom leather, stitching, and sizing. Came out great and Daniel even made right a miscommunication and sent out new seat backs - free of charge. Nothing but the best experience - can’t recommend them enough.

Re: Engine is toast turned into full plane project

Panel and avionics installed. Lots of user manuals to read.

Decided to forgo the 2nd Dynon HDX panel (although it’s pre-wired for a second HDX, if I change my mind) I will be mounting a 11” IPad running Avydine IFD100 and ForeFlight in split screen.

More progress on the panel - lights under the glare shield are done.

Ignore my old yokes

Re: Engine is toast turned into full plane project

Corefile,

What exhaust did you end up going with and if you don’t mind please tell us why?

I need a new exhaust and I’m trying to make an educated decision on my 185.

Thanks

I went with acorn/seaplanes west exhaust , I got package deal with the new seaplanes west engine mount. I went with them because it was an easy swap, no changes needed from stock to the cowl, ensured no problems fitting the new engine mount, high quality construction, they have also made improvements to the original design as well. And price wise it came in way under something like a leading edge (now power flow) at the time when I bought mine - power flow had just acquired the leading edge product, and they were still sorting out that whole mess and so had put a hold on selling them till they got it all sorted out.
