I am sure I'm the only one that hates cleaning my aircraft windows.

I have used several different products over the years and every one has done an ok job of removing bugs, but in every case it was a pain in the A$$ to use and it always left a film on the glass. After much consideration of trying yet another "wonder product" I sent for some eyes outside glass cleaner from Plane Perfect. 10 minutes tops, all the windows were clean inside and out with minimal wiping and no residual film. Even cleaned off the Alaska bugs left from over a year ago

So, I figured I would pass this along for anyone else that hates cleaning the windows and put in a shameless plugs for a fellow BCP member who's product definitely surpassed my expectations.

Perfect timing Chris. I cussed through cleaning all of mine just before the HSF and said to myself it was time to find something better.

On the topic of glass cleaners, I've used a number of different products, too, from plain water to some pretty pricey stuff by Shell (which works well, too). So far, though, the best cleaning product I've found is called Sparkle, a relatively inexpensive product from Ace Hardware. Since it's not an Ace brand, it's probably available elsewhere, too. It's ammonia-free (ammonia crazes plastics like windshields), and it cleans as well as Windex cleans glass-glass. It's not a polish, however, so about every 4th or 5th cleaning with Sparkle, I follow up with Plexus, which is supposed to be both a cleaner and polish. I don't think it's as good as Sparkle for cleaning, but it's a very good polish. It does a good job polishing with little effort, and it lasts through several cleanings.

Disclaimer: I haven't tried any of Planes Plastics products, so I can't compare.

2 cups water, couple tablespoons vinegar, spray bottle, microfiber rag!
If that works well and you want to go a little better put just a dab of cornstarch in the jug.

I have used a lot of various commercial and home made aircraft cleaning solutions on our Husky and Aeronca Defender. The plane perfect "eyes outside" and "wing wipe" are by far the best. Wont use anything else!!!!

Lemon pledge and a microfiber has worked great for me, Caravans to float planes to FL300 stuff, it's cheap and smells good too.

I've had good luck with the Pro Honda Spray Cleaner I use on my motorcycles.

I use "Bubble Polish"(helicopter ?) from Sporty's -comes in gallon for 20 bucks -like old mirror glaze. Put it in old shampoo bottles and use old tee shirts to do wiping. Lemon Pledge work good -but leaves a light film .

i agree. I like the orange too sometimes just to change it up!

seems kinda expensive. pledge works great, can be used on multiple surfaces. and a nice lemon smell

I like pledge too, but found it leaves a film over time, still use it on the leading edges, with regular use the bugs come off easier.

Haven't tried Sparkle, Bubble pro or Pro Honda Spray, but a few wipes with the Eyes Clear and I was DONE, no bugs, no film, windows will get cleaned much more often with this stuff

The very easiest way to remove bugs (especially from the windows that can be damaged by hard scrubbing) is to lay a wet cloth over the surface for just a few short minutes and when the bugs become re-hydrated, they wipe right off without much effort. A nice young woman at a car wash showed me this trick after she saw me struggling to get the bugs off the hood of my car. Try it before scrubbing and scraping with your thumbnail and leaving dull spots in paint and scratches.

Have used lemon pledge in the past and that works pretty good. Just ordered some "eyes outside" glass cleaner and "budda belly" cleaner. Looking forward to trying it out.
