Finally found a 206

Hey guys, been a long two years looking for a 206 since selling my 182. I just brought her home last week, starting to go through it thoroughly and make her my own. I'm so extremely excited to be back in the air and with such a capable aircraft. Hopefully I meet some of you in the back country! My dream is to cross country up to Alaska in the next couple of years. In the mean time, I'm gonna be training hard to get sharp again.

1979 TU206G with 30 hours SMOH, previously she was a missionary bird so it comes with all the nice jungle STCs.

Re: Finally found a 206

Thanks guys,

For STCs, it has:

Roberston STOL
Flap switch relocate (this is great)
7 seats
Belly pod
Harnesses

I guess it has a "bigger" front strut? Not sure what that's about

Really the only thing it needs is a little love applied to the panel. It's a perfectly serviceable 90's style IFR panel but I'm going to replace much of it in a couple of phases over the next year. I have a Garmin 225, GMA 345 and a few other things on order. Next year I will add a GTN 750, GTX 345, dual GI 275s, GFC 500, and a large format engine monitor.

I have to fly it a bit more before deciding on any airframe STCs I'd like to add.

Re: Finally found a 206

A word of advice to anyone buying a former missionary bird. Look out for an "MAF" STC exhaust. It's common for missionary groups to strip the heaters out of these planes for weight and CO concerns, which isn't a big deal unless they install an exhaust that removes the heat exchanger accommodations.

I just had a little surprise on this bird, in that I have to order a whole new exhaust from Acorn just to get heat back when I was only expecting to reinstall a few hoses and vents.

Re: Finally found a 206

Isn’t there a kit from Canada that has a hinge portion in the upper door so you can open the door in an emergency if the flaps are down. I would look into that.

Here it is, Coast Dog Aviation is the holder of the STC.

Almost as essential as BAS shoulder harness G44

Did you check out the Knisely Exhaust? It eliminates the crossover pipe from cyl #2 the goes behind the engine. It will eliminate a lot of heat around the fuel pump.

Yep, in fact, Acorn and Knisley are all a part of Hartzell now. When I called and talked to the sales guy he made sure to tell me not to get the rear crossover style exhaust.
