I ordered a kit from https://pedalplanekits.com/ for my niece and I built it with my Dad while I was home for the holidays. Honestly it was a lot more work than I had thought when I bought a "kit". Probably a familiar feeling to people who build actual airplanes. Luckily my Dad has been getting into work working and I'm good with metal/mechanical stuff.
I was going to paint it to match my Scout but then I traded the Scout right before I finished this so I went classic super cub with the accents I would do if I had one.
Here's some pics of the progress. Would recommend these kits if you like woodworking. Not cheap but they are built very stout and I expect it'll be a family heirloom kind of thing - it's pretty impressive actually. The prop spins as it's pedaled, and the stick controls the tailwheel steering.
Early work bending the fuselage sides into shape. Lots of clamps.

Most of the wood work done, time for sand and prime.

Interior painted, exterior primed, ready for sheet metal work.

Sheet metal done, wheels/pedals on temporarily. That AoA though...

Fuselage painted. We used rollers and brushes because we had paint already.

Wings finished

Spraying the red fuselage stripes. We rolled/brushed the white top coat but used rattle can for the red. Eye balled them but I think they came out nicely.

Not the best pic, but the kit came with a decal to put on the panel to give it instruments. Nice touch.

Done!
