The 6 pack instrument panel layout, dropped yoke, engine instruments under the flights instruments, and cowl flaps on the floor next on the flap handle tunnel are all features that began in 77. It's possible it may have rolled off the assembly line in 76, but could actually be a 77 model. Enjoy!

It was manufactured in 76 but is a 77 model. You are correct.

Thanks Mike. Thank you also for the good airplane advice both directly in threads I've started and indirectly in threads I've read. The knowledge you and others here have shared has helped me buy a 180, put good floats on it, and now buy a well equipped 185.
Thank you all

Re: Finished the deal, bought a Cessna 185

Congratulations on your new 185. My friend just bought a 185F and I am his IA doing the annual and getting it reregistered from Canada to the USA.

We don’t have a factory equipment list for this airplane and I have seen on this website people that will copy their equipment list and email it to them. I am wondering if you will do that for us so we can keep getting the airplane registered and get to fly it soon.

thank you,
What a beautiful airplane have fun flying.

FWIW the "year by year model changes" from the skywagons.com site sez
1976 s/n range is 52,621 thru 72,770, & 1977 is 52,771 thru 52,905.

Much appreciated. Those aren't 185 serial numbers though. I did check mine and it is the 5th 1977 model plane, it was built in 76.

Oops, I was looking in the 180 section. Sorry about that.
1976 C185 range is 2839 thru 3153, 1977 is 3154 thru 3458.
