Flight Following

Morning guys, I trust you more than the FAA. I am headed from SoCal back to NW Oregon KTTD. The SPOT is on, Route KUDD to Tonopah, Nv. gas. Lakeview, Or. gas. Then depending on the wx either Madras, Or. or Troutdale, Or. I'll check in when done for the day.

I have survival gear and a 406plb.

Cheers...Rob

Have a good trip home, Rob. I'll be one of the guys keeping track of you today.

I'll text you here in a minute, too.

Re: Flight Following

Just FYI.....fuel at Bishop is being reported at $4.41 V $4.70 at Tonopah. Going through Bishop and up the valley is a more direct route to Portland (well, save 10 miles). Unless the Wx is crappy up that way.

Just checked the Wx forecast for the route your planning. Doesn't look like a discent day is brewing. But, who knows. If you have to stop for the night, at least there should be some good people to stay with in NV.

Re: Flight Following

And the race is on!!!

Will Rob fight his way out of that alien infested snake pit called SoCal, make his way across the vast high desert wastelands of Nevada and eastern Oregon, and be parked snug and warm in his simple, modest little cabin tonight as the big storm hits?

Or, will the weather beat him down like the Maule driving dog he is, and will he be forced to spend the night curled up with the girls of Mina, Nevada, surviving on Desert Lobster burgers and cold Keystone beer for the next week?

The SPOT will tell the true story...

8:15a: Rob is up and running.

8:20a: But Hmmm, he's going around the east side of R-2501.....Would have saved over 10 miles going around the west side of R-2501. I wonder what he has in mind?? Maybe he wants to get a good view of Amboy Crater?? :D

9:00a: Almost to Baker, CA

I knew it...

He's headed straight at the WIld Kat Ranch, and gonna try his luck with Honeysuckle Devine. Retired firemen have issues with impulse control.

I am kinda naive here but... Isn't the Amboy Crater what bubbles and trixie call their "private parts" ? #-o [-X ?

Amboy Crater is a valcano formed thousands of years ago. It's located just west of Amboy, CA along Route 66.
