NW Seaplanes N725TH, one of 2 otters converted to Walter turboprop.

Thoughts go out to all aboard and my friends at NW Sea, sad day indeed.

That’s purely amazing that there are eight survivors. Egressing that many people in the water isn’t that easy….and that’s cold water.

Glad to hear that many were rescued.

Unofficial analysis, the findings seem sound however

Yes, you will get hammered over this, Dan…..

That being said, it seems likely a pitch control issue.

Sad day.

I watched that a couple days ago.
His theory does seem like it has some validity.
But I do have to say that one of his opening lines
"I'm going to tell you what happened"
rubbed me wrong.
I'm sure glad he "knows", since everyone else (FAA, NTSB, USCG, etc) can only speculate at this point.
I never heard of this guy before but that seemed very arrogant to me.

He’s got a ego for sure, but honestly I find him more “noble” than the three organizations you mentioned

USCG isn’t bad, minus constant taking advantage of the 4A loophole for boats

Wonder if any of these recent inexplicable accidents are a result of that suddenly death thing that is going around. They say the suddenly is caused by global warming.

If by global warming you mean salt water and corrosion sure

Flying 135 in large turbines off salt made me realize that I am not rich enough to fly my own piston off anything but fresh water

This guy has as much accident history as anyone alive. He's an airline pilot who got fired.....but he's an "expert".

Guy is an egotistical ass. He doesn't know what happened in this any more than anyone else.

Please don't sponsor this jerk by watching his "You Tube" channel.....seriously, look up his history.

We’ll based on how many airlines are run, most worth a damn would probably get fired too lol

So where was he wrong or where was his logic off?

Re: Float plane down near Whidbey, WA

A little history on Gryder:

https://www.ajc.com/news/local/delta-su ... 06R6xOPnL/

https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/communi ... be.132633/

On July 27, 2006, a Beechcraft Baron executed a forced landing at Whiteside County Airport. The aircraft had been in a holding pattern following a missed approach at the airport when an engine failed. Instrument Meteorological Conditions prevailed at the time. The pilot received serious injuries. The probable cause of the accident was determined to be fuel exhaustion due to the pilot's failure to ensure an adequate supply of fuel for the flight.[7]
On July 23, 2021, a Cessna 150 flown by aviation YouTube personality Dan Gryder crashed while flying at the Whiteside County Airshow near the airport. The aircraft performed an off-airport emergency landing and flipped onto its top. Neither Gryder nor his passenger were injured, and both refused medical treatment. The cause of the crash is under investigation.[8]

Etc, etc, etc......

But, what I said is Please don't support this guy's You Tube channel.

The tail is a known weak link on the Otter.
The plane reportedly nose dived in.
It seems very plausible that the elevator control system had an issue!

Seems egotistical ass ish to imply this guy is wrong just because you don't like him???? [-X

Others have asked you to explain where he is wrong.

Do you have a better explanation?

The NTSB "Guess" should be out in a few months.

Re: Float plane down near Whidbey, WA

Thanks Mike.

I'm not a fan of his style or his race to conclusions. I do feel this particular incident will not be solved as the currents in the area are strong and the potential of the NTSB to allocate resources to recover the aircraft might well be curtailed.

It is a sad situation on all fronts.

I do hope the truth data prevails. It will be good for all of us.

Re: Float plane down near Whidbey, WA

Gryder's videos are controversial as demonstrated by this thread. I recall one of his videos (I didn't watch) where he included gory footage of the deceased still in the airplane. In another he made a very critical video after the woman crashed the 208 in Idaho not too long ago, which he had to walk back. As a result of episodes like those I tend to not click on his videos if there is any other source of information.

He may be right on this one. I understand the wreckage was located so I had hopes they could get it to the surface and hopefully find the truth.

Unrelated, his best video (which I did watch) was his corny and too long explanation of DB Cooper. It lays out the best case I've ever seen for who it was and the motivation behind the event.

I didn’t see anywhere where Mike (MTV) said this guy was wrong, from what I read he was highlighting some of this fellows background and experience or lack of.
