Fuel Prices
Nothing happens without it. Discuss fuel locations, quality, alternatives, and anything else related to this critical resource.
TomD wrote:We are blessed in the State of Washington to be able to add to the State General fund by paying sales tax on Avgas on top of all the other taxes included in the fuel. In other words we pay tax on the tax.
My home field went to $6.249 ( that scares the Hell out of $6.25 ) which is about a $0.70 jump and the lowest I have found in the Puget Sound area was $5.39.
The prices are changing so fast
http://www.100LL.com does not have a prayer of keeping up.

Ya I don't know who copied who but we do the same here pay sales tax not on top of state fuel tax, but on top of federal.

The faster I go , the farther behind I get.
$6.25/gallon for 100LL at my airport.
Another benefit to higher prices... I recently filed for a tax refund of for my Q1/12 airplane mogas-- they refund the road tax, minus state sales tax & aviation tax. Got a letter back that any time the price I paid for gas goes over $3.78, those two taxes add up to more than the road tax--- so no refund.
It just keeps getting better.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Yep, it can feel like that

but the "sticker-shock" does wear off and the truth is, ya gotta have it or quit flying.

Car gas should be around $3 at the local stations then? Why so cheap there?

Washington and it's ridiculous .50+ per gallon tax on fuel of all types makes it the only state west of the Rockies that CA can even point and laugh at.

Never thought of it that way. That's pretty bad-- kinda like being outsmarted by the village idiot.

Just finished 2 trips from WA to AZ and WA to SD......Washington State has, by far, the most expensive 100LL in the West!! There will come a point when enough is enough. Each pilot, one by one, will fly less and less and then noobody is flying much.
