Hand Propping - Front or Back?

Here is another good example of why, in my humble opinion, your body should be moving away from the propeller arc and with an escape route, instead of head moving forward and downwards and into the prop arc:

Humor may not make the world go around, but it certainly cheers up the process...

With clothing, the opposite of NOMEX is polypro (polypropylene cloth and fleece).
Success has many fathers...... Failure is an orphan.

Not sure I am reading between the lines of this post clearly enough (too many brain cells gone from the 80's), but if I have managed to offend or overstep by posting that link, please accept my apology. This subject is not one of the ones I would put too much energy into debating.

No, Flap, just sayin' accidents typically happen for a reason. Not knowing what you are doing and going about something dangerous without a 'clue' can be deadly/fatal. No reflection on you or your comments, a reflection on the incident you posted.
Sorry if my post came across wrong....

Found out later this happened in a hangar row across the field from me...story is , engine running then stopped ... he got out to hand prop with a passenger in the plane.. unclear as to how he got hit I E slipped, or plane lurched forward or whatever...

Depends. Been starting Cubs from the rear for 47 years. Am too lazy to walk around front when I don't have to and rear is safer and easier anyway. PT-26 and Stearman I have to start from the front. Cherokee Six, I prefer front starts (don't like doing the Six).
