As The Grateful Dead said....What a long strange trip it's been!
Just about done with year 17 flying the Maule. 44 years since I soloed.
Hatfield at home landing dream
The goal
The plan
The law suit. Farmer said I could have a strip in writing, then changed his mind. Said NO!
The alternate strip. Not big enough for the Maule at gross.
The 12 year wait
Hangar built
The county now requires a Conditional use permit for a strip. They did not 10 years ago.
The ass*&^% rental farmer's lease is over.
The strip is getting built, no permit. All they can say is stop. After 12 years I don't give a flying F&^$.
Keeping my hangar at Troutdale. The Maule goes to Arizona October 15 thru May 1.
God willing I have 12 more years to fly and I am going to hang it up. I'll be 78. The engine will need overhaul. My Arizona ground lease at Glendale AP will expire. No one knows if Troutdale AP will still be there. Good time to thank God for all the fun, friends, and adventures!
The long strange trip continues. That's a good thing.
