Try Kevin at Weber's in Alexandria, MN

WEBER'S AERO REPAIR
Alexandria Airport
Alexandria, MN 56308
320-763-4066

He rebuilds/services Bellanca Cruisemasters and Vikings (and Norseman) but has had a 450 hp Pratt powered Stearman in the shop for a while that I believe came with a trade for some other project. He's been trying to get rid of it since. It's in good shape mechanically but I think there are some paperwork issues and I'm not sure about the fabric age. For a Cub trade I'll bet he could get the paperwork resolved.

There's also a Lycoming 225 powered one in excellent condition down at the Mora, MN airport. The owner (a WW2 flight instructor) recently lost his medical and has put everything up for sale.

If she's over twenty years old, you'll have to redo the fabric anyway...

This what I needed, a little humor. I'm stuck on the ground, loaded and fueled to head to North Pole and the weather shut me down at Willow. Open on both sides, just a bottle neck & not worth pushing. No Moose is that important.
For the record, I'm a little partial to more curvaceous
tails........

BRD, I think I saw that Stearman at the Alex airshow--I wonder if it wasn't metalized. If that isn't the one, it was a 985 Stearman for sale in Alex, probably not to many of those on the market in Alex.

It's a R-985 bird for sure, all mustard yellow, but I don't remember it being metalized. If you go in Webber's hangar it's near the door against the east wall. I just did a big poster of it's panel and windscreen to hang on the wall at a friend's pre-wedding bash.

There's one more Stearman in Alex in USAAF colors owned by another friend of mine that's mint, has a 220 Cont. and is not for sale. 8)

I saw the the other one, mint doesn't describe it. I don't think they made em that nice when they were new. That is a beautiful plane.

Yellowmaule,

If you got as far as Willow, don't forget to take a look at Gunsight/Tahneta, then Gulkana, and on through Isabel Pass.

Hey, in one of those Super Maules, it's probably only five minutes longer.... .

Actually, I timed it several times in 185's on floats, and the difference tween that and Windy going to FAI was less than 40 minutes, and you can fuel in Gulkana.
