Here is my vote for best aircraft.



Short takeoff and landing, carries as many as I want, has plenty of storage, does up to warp 10, and, best of all, doesn't use 100LL!

I'm not sure I could do better than this:

I love my homebuilt... Of course I am prejudice. !!! :<)).

I do like the 801's. One with a back door would be pretty close to perfect for me.... for now.

Well, sometimes we just get lucky and get to do exactly that... build what we consider the ideal plane:



This is a Bearhawk kit 2.5 yrs along. With a little more luck it will fly this summer. Building is not for everyone but if you have the desire it is a good way to get your "ideal plane".

1000 - 1200 lbs useful load
250 hp
155 mph cruise
45 mph stall
4 seats
70 gal total fuel
large control surfaces=excellent handling/fun

I WANT A QUEST KODIAK!!!!! But as I cannot afford anything in 5 figure range, let alone 7, it will have to wait until I win the lottery. The Kodiak can do pretty much anything a Maule can do, with 4x the useful load.

From what I can see right now, the perfect plane for me would be a Cessna 180, but I'm just not willing to work five extra years or give up everything else I enjoy to have one.


If I could have any plane on earth, I think it would be a North American OV-10 Bronco...if you've ever seen one fly, you'd understand.

Idunno, transport corpses? It just seemed wrong to make a big aircraft list and not have one it on.

Besides, a 172 is sort of like your winter beater car. It's the plane you will let someone borrow, the one you take when it will end up sitting on tiedown at a busy GA airport for a week during the spring thunderstorms, and the plane you let your kid learn how to fly in. I'm not saying 172s are made to be abused, but if you have the means to have a spare plane, it's a great candidate. They're not priceless classics, not too expensive (relatively), easy to fix/replace if something goes wrong, and pretty durable.

I really love mine but it is far from the perfect plane. Add 200 lbs to the useful load but keep the fuel burn and handling then we can talk.

We were just discussing the small four-seater conundrum last night when planning activities for the parents' visit. Just doesn't pencil out for the 170B.

Everyone knows that the perfect plane is the next one you are GONNA buy. Far from the perfect plane but a C180 or C182 is what I REALLY need. Of course if I HAD one of those I'd WANT a 206 because my buddy wants to bring his wife and kids etc.

THERE ARE NO PERFECT PLANES!! I have owned a 182, then a 206, then a T-210, and now a 185. As you all know they all have strengths and weaknesses. The ONLY way to have a perfect plane is with multiple planes to suit your current mission. When you figure out how to pay for them, please PM me your solution. I am too old and stubborn to marry for money, so scratch that one.

I'd like 30 mph stall, 180 mph cruise on 8 gal/hr auto fuel, seats for 4 plus 2 plus bagage. Float kit. Don't want much!

Saw a turbine-powered Sherpa (6 or 8 seat?) at the Arlington fly-in this last weekend. Pretty awesome looking. A friend got a ride in it, said they had all the seats filled and were flying comfortably at 45 mph. A t-shirt at the Sherpa booth said it all:
"Go anywhere- take everything"
