Someone pulled a good one on the news media, who are typically awful at factually dealing with anything aviation.

I have a lot of sympathy for her. She was born at the same time the movie came out and seems to have been told by someone affiliated with the airport what the problem was. This was, after all, an "on the scene" report, not investigative journalism. Whoever told her that a flux capacitator was the cause was being a dick. IMO.

I guess we all have a different sense of humor...

I personally think the STC is worth every penny. I've not heard of a failure in a long time. Mr. Fusion is indeed more reliable though.

Advising the persistent journalist demanding an explanation provided the opportunity to deliver the information in the most deadpan manner he could compose. It seems he was successful.

Kinda makes me wanna go double check my turbo thrust emulsifier before my next flight...

Back when I chaired the Laramie Airport Board, I was often the point person that the media contacted whenever something happened aviation-wise--even if it didn't involve the airport. One particular reporter, who shilled for several media outlets and attended many of our board meetings, never seemed to grasp why I couldn't answer some of her questions--her understanding of aviation was extraordinarily limited. I truly wish I could have blamed some events on the failure of the flux capacitor! Unfortunately, Back to the Future hadn't come out yet.

I heard a Supervisor at a large well known jet maintenance facility address a squawk in a staff meeting, of "two broken vortex generators" say that "he was going to get an electrician to ring out the wiring" to trouble shoot. We all just looked at each other and smiled, but nobody said a word.
I also had a young aeronautical engineer point and tell me the repair was up on the "tail thingy"

By the way,
I need to buy a gallon of prop wash and 35 foot of flight line. If anybody knows where I can find some.
