It was a very good day- PPL in hand!

Yesterday was a very good day.

Tuesday the 13th, went from Bentonville to Tulsa and did my oral and practical with the DPE and now have my PPL!!!
It took 5 months to the day from when I started, and darn it, I got it!

Now with the studying and instruction behind, I may have a little more time to hang-out on here and contribute once in a while.

Thanks ya'll for the encouragement to live the dream!

Kenny

P.S.- Tailwheel training starts when the Citabria comes out from annual inspection.

Nice work. It'a hard to describe to someone who's not a pilot how awesome it feels. Soon we'll be seeing you asking "what airplane is right for me?" :)

Zzz- The debate goes on about; "what airplane is right for me?" So far I like the idea of having a Pacer with mods or an early straight tail C172 with some mods(sportsman, tires etc..). Hell, I'd even consider a M-m-maule!

Skytruck- Finances are shot to hell for now so the above comment concerning a M-m-maule will have to wait.

Gump & 58Skylane- A mad bomber!.. Who me?... I didn't think anyone saw the Halloween Punkin get dropped into Beaver Lake! #-o Anyway, I never knew punkin pieces floated.

PPL Update.....

It was said that next to your first solo, the most memorable flight you will make is when you take a loved one up for the first time. That is so true..... My better half went up with me Sunday morning and marveled at the passing countryside below, the excitement of landing on grass, and the reality that the time had passed much too quickly.

She gets it.

She loves aviation from a different perspective too. Her day job has her talking to airplanes from a cab with big windows all around. Before that, it was doing that same job for the Navy for 20 years..... Hell, she knows military iron just as good as I do, Navy jets even more so!

She gets it.

She knows a plane will be in our future as our style of enjoying life is measured in more than the price of a rental measured on a Hobbs Meter. To truly enjoy life you need to take your time, smell the roses and arrive wherever and whenever you choose.

Yeah, she gets it.........

........and I'm a lucky man!

Life is good.

Gump,

No way, You gotta be kidding!

Somebody needs to set up a trail cam or something... Crap, I'll set on a hill overlooking the thing and lob .223" rounds in their direction if someone starts looking like they are gonna do something stupid. .........Lord have mercy if I catch em.

Sux. I remember the first time I drove past that tree being very impressed with the shear pointlessness of it. That's what made it so great. I'm sure creative minds will insure it's survival in some form.

Hope there are a few full grown Cottonwood trees left near Hwy 50 to keep the tradition alive.

God forbid I become an official tree hugger but damn, something got to give.
