You can click on the fire perimeter area and closures PDF and enlarge it to see that the Riordan (sp?) fire is really close and the North Fork fire ain't that far away.

Cool web site TD, I found this picture on there. If you look closely, you can pick out McCall and Payette Lake. (Cascade Resivior is the larger body of water in the lower left, and work you way up.) You can see that the whole South Fork is obscured, and most of the Middle Fork.

This really sucks. I'm so ready for a snow storm, or even some rain (without the lightening please.)

Flew from my place near Moscow to Wyoming yesterday and the smoke was terrible. Anyone thinking of going camping or flying should go to plan "b" as the visibility is very poor and the tops of the smoke went up into the teens. A normal 3 hour flight took me 4 hours after all the detours. Not fun.

So then Yellow pine has been evacuated I take it. Talked to a friend in Yellow pine who said he wasn't going and was staying home. He's a great guy and i know he would have to be Physically dragged from his home. Besides I wouldn't want to try. His walls are lined with many examples of "Hunting paraphernalia" ready for use at the drop of a hat. He is a true friend and I wish him and his lovely wife safety.

Hopefully everyone is out of Yellow Pine that wants to leave.

According to the USFS the last escorted departure was at 11:00AM today.

Looks like Riordan is moving that way and the North Fork fire looks like it is almost at the ridgeline south of J. Creek.

Rain would be REALLY nice.

It's rained all day here in McCall, and it's great. Don't think it even hit 60F. It's supposed to dry up tomorrow, but I really hope it'll help the fires slow down. At least it washed the air, yesterday evening flying, I'd forgotten what good visibility looked like - everything was so sharp!

Not enough to put the fires out but should help knock them down a bit.
