Can't embed it because it's not on one of the major hosting sites. But it's worth the extra click to watch this one...

I couldn't get your link to load fully for some reason, but I think I found it on the NYT Youtube channel:

Re: Kaboom

Very cool rw2 and Mike! Thanks for the great find and posting.

I worked a day with our blast crew at our mine loading drill holes. I was given the guest honors of pushing the blast button and it was an awesome feeling blasting more than million tons of rock in less than a fraction of a second!

We are also now blasting outside the main pit around the top of the pit. So if timing is right around blast time, I get to watch the actual blast from a distance across the mine on the haul road. Pretty awesome!

Re: Kaboom

haha thats brilliant, my wife and I have always said that when we are in our older years, we want to be one of those couples who doesn't sit around home, but instead heads out fishing! I think we have to change that plan to heads out and blows s@!T up!

Re: Kaboom

Yeah its all about the BOOOOOM!!! I love blowing shit up it happens to be what I do for a living....Even after a weeks worth of drilling, it will make you giggle like a 4 yr old kid the second you push those buttons!!! Looks like Im in the wrong profession though, that actually looks like fun planning and layout and you get so much more out of your work than just looking at "another weeks worth of f*$%##@ drilling"
Damn if I was brave enough to post some videos......200,000 pounds of powder.... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!
LOVE IT! :D (hello ATF fellas its just me. 8) )

Re: Kaboom

My very part time helper in my mostly one person business, is ex army Ranger along with a few other things, all of them involved major training in demo. Often, his solution to a perceived situation seems to involve high explosives, either that or shotguns. And he gets this somewhat crazed look in his eyes when making these suggestions. He is also a part time bouncer at a local tavern, actually more part time manager and the bouncer thing is just him being onsite keeps people chilled out. Anyway, he has been my entry in the world of blowing things up, great fun and often the best way to make a problem go away quickly and economically. Especially the lava rock we have around here.
