Re: Mack Mesa Fat Tire Jamboree - May 16/18

I'm in for the weekend. Flying down Friday morning, departing at zero dark thirty on Sunday to get home for branding.

Look forward to seeing everyone there and swapping some lies around Ladd's big-ass campfire! =D>

And don't forget to go to Fruita while you're there... Gotta pay respects to Mike the Headless Chicken.

Sort of off subject but I thought there was an alternative Johnson Creek fly-in this summer.

Hey, I got a problem. I had a flat tire at Sand Wash which took out my propeller, so I don't have an airplane to fly from Canyonlands (CNY) to Mack Mesa (10CO). Is anybody heading up there from here, somebody who could take a passenger?

Going to try and head up from Texas tomorrow afternoon. Doubt I'll be able to make it all the way to Mack. Does anyone have any ideas for a place to stay/camp, maybe around the San Luis Valley? I called La Garita and they aren't open yet. I'm open to any suggestions, just want to get closer to the mountains so I can get over them early Friday morning. Thanks

You might give Mountain Matt a shout. He's from down south Colorado. He should have some ideas.

Adam;
Give Travis (aka Pinyon) a call. He may be out that way tomorrow setting up the poker run. Check out the first post in this thread for his contact info.

No trip to Fruita is complete without a chat with Tator - the mayor mator of fruita! Ask him to draw something for you. This guy was hard wired happy from birth - I don't know what his diagnosis was/is but he's a right cool chap and sometimes I think we should all be so lucky.

Just wanted to thank Steve Lexi, Ladd, Travis, Ros, and several others for putting together a great fyin. Great turn out, white man's bonfires, great band,what more could ya ask for. Saw some old friends, met some new folks, drank a few margs, got into some new strips, and Travis' awesome gravel bar.,and had a great time.
Thanks Gary
