Awww... Why limit yourself? Surely the lottery would fund this aerial motor home...

...and apparently a whole lot safer...

For me the dream bird would be a Viking Twin Otter on floats...not as much range as the PBY but I really like flying the DHC-6 and the turbines would be so much easier to take care of.

The big Airbus? The biggest plane in the frigging world? A Saudi prince is writing the checks to convert it into a flying palace, 8,000 sq. ft of floor space, lots of gold and marble etc. The first and only biggest 'bus sold to a individual.

It sure makes me feel better about the 200 bucks of diesel I bought today for the crane, which almost filled one tank. #-o

We used a tent for the airplane, and a sleeping bag for the fuselage.

Well, Kevbert, it wasn't a 'knee slapper'.......but it was worth a pretty big grin (to me)...... :)

Hated to see it not get ANY recognition...... #-o

With clothing, the opposite of NOMEX is polypro (polypropylene cloth and fleece).

How fat is your wallet? This aircraft would make make a reasonable backcountry strip 'camper' inside. 8)

Unfortunately my wallet is pretty skinny......

Re: Military pilots train on back country strip

When I was living in Okinawa there was a privately owned Gruman that had been restored and the interior was converted into basically a flying motorhome. The exterior was painted original Navy paint scheme (maybe it was Coast Gaurd). I'll have to see if I can find a picture. It was the ultimate travel machine. The guy that owned it was 'touring' the world and since it was an old military plane they let him park it on the Marine Corps base there and people were allowed to see it. It was a plane I could only dream of owning.
