Looks like a really neat spot! Great job putting the video together, really gives a good feel of the journey.

Let me know next time you guys are in town and I'll come out and play.

July 8, 1921: "The first aerial mail to be delivered in Oregon was dropped yesterday by a plane from the Eugene base of the forest fire patrol to J.L. Sanborn, lookout on Prairie mountain in the coast range, 35 miles west of Eugene, in the Siuslaw national forest.
The plane was in command of Pilot Drake of the 91st aero squadron. 'Jake' Jacobson, observer, dropped the mail. Sanborn has a lookout tower on top of the mountain which is plainly visible. Jacobson said the plane cut down as close as possible and the bundle of letters, papers and magazines struck within 50 feet of the structure." (The Morning Oregonian - footnote 1)

Oh man that is really really cool, looks like I wasn't the first to make a low pass there. Interesting to see aviation already associated with the same spot. Too bad they didn't have a Savannah back in 1921

Yeah I had to avoid the old foundation as there where a couple pieces of angle iron that could sure ruin your day. Too bad the lookouts not there any more that would be a fun one to rent

I liked when you jumped out and yelled, "Holy shit!" Awesome!

When are you going back? I would love a spot like that down here.

I wonder if the little memorial site was somehow related? Beloved ranger pet or something?

Re: new landing site and first attempt at narration

Great video, inspiring.

Do you use a spot/have someone aware that you are probably going to try a new strip if you see one? Just curious, I personally hate to be tied to a flight plan and want flexibility but I do use my spot and my wife is aware that my plans will change as I fly around. The spot lets her know where I am.

Re: new landing site and first attempt at narration

Dude, I tried to land at Corvallis at 09:00 on Sunday. But, there was freezing fog -3C 200' OVC! The Coast Range was clear. I have pictures the same day your video was taken of Marys Peak on my cell phone!

Stellar video. I flew to "Little John's" airport for a BFR that day (S30) then back to KONP.

Thank you for replying to my PM.

Awesome. I love videos like this. They keep me going when I haven't been able to fly for over a month due to weather out here.

Nice job and great video. Jealous that you got out there, we've been socked in with solid IMC the last several weeks and I'm anxious to see the sun again and go flying.

Nice work Tyler. Looks like a great place for a picnic and maybe a paraglider launch.

Thank you. Yeah I actually just activated my spot after realizing I need a little more than an ELT and cell phone doing stuff like this!
