Old photos of YOUR airplane?

Unfortunately my 1946 C120 came with very little history in the form of photos. There is one grainy Polaroid in the docs and that's it. I did some googling of the original N number and was able to find one photo of the airplane in 1979. I'd love to see what it looked like when it rolled off the factory line, but I'm sure that will be near impossible to find.

Anyone have a decent set of photos of their airplane as it progressed through the years?

Very cool. I wish I had some old pics of our planes, but can’t find any.

I'm not sure you would want to see one of my 172 when I bought it in 1987. If your browse throughthe 'Ramp Mummies' thread you'll gat an idea of what it looked like. Little to no paint, ragged out leather interior, no carpet, shredded headliner. Had the old bird for 32+ years!

Old as I could find, OCT-2018. The main rotor blade bolts/nuts are being drilled, for a cotter pin, after measured for stretch (elongation) not torque. Note the paper dish to catch metal shaving from the drilling. Next, it went to “Flight Test” hangar for 4.5 hours of flight, then airworthiness certificate signed.

Only one person ever sat in her after assembly, the factory test pilot. Then I flew her to Oregon, with a delivery pilot.

Re: Old photos of YOUR airplane?

Interesting question, as it came to light when I posted a sheep hunt report a few years back that mtv used to own the plane that I fly.

How about it, sir? Do you have any old pictures of 102TC? I'd love to see them if so!

Re: Old photos of YOUR airplane?

Here’s a photo of our Cessna 170A that was published in the October 1959 issue of National Geographic. The photo shows the original owner of our plane and his wife on Grand Bahama Island. The owner was an employee of Pan American Airways and was stationed at the missile tracking station Near Freeport. The article indicated that he used the 170 to fly back and forth to Miami for supplies.

Here’s what she looks like now.

Not much different then compared to now. A slightly lighter tone of yellow after a recover and paint job, a belly pod, and some new shoes. Otherwise the old girl has aged well!

My old 170 was owned by 4 different BCP members including myself. Here’s a few pics from when Oldtech owned it.

Re: Old photos of YOUR airplane?

Back in the days of George Van Tassel, the Integratron, and Giant Rock, a small desert community was flourishing to the south.

As lore goes, Newlin Landers and his two flying buddies discussed buying up a bunch of land out there. A coin toss decided that the new area be named Landers after Newlin, while his two buddies, Reche and Belfield got the main east-west and north-south streets named after them in their loss of the coin toss.

Here's Newlin Landers fueling it from the Landers airport in Landers, CA around 1960:

Some 50 years later, I bought the same bird. Here's how it sits today:
