The B777-300ER I am flying has three cameras. You see only the engines and main gear on the elevator cameras and the nose wheels on the front camera.The 300ER is very long and needs a special taxi technique in turns, the cameras are there to make sure the mains are staying on pavement in turns (mostly for someone who is new on type). If you would keep the nose wheel on the taxi line in a 90 degree turn, the mains would end up in the grass. However, after a little practice the cameras are really not needed anymore. Some pilots use them others don't.

We don't have them on any of our 737/757/767 airplanes, but I've seen pictures of them on these types when ordered by private customers. All it takes is money - which is why most airliners don't have a LOT of stuff we'd love to have...

I just put a backup camera on my crane, and it is a game changer. Amazing clarity, though I am still getting used to judging distance while using it. It's fun to spy on people behind me at a red light also. I didn't know they had them on airliners, cool.

All of our 50 B777-300ER's have cameras and I believe all 300ER's come standard with cameras. The -200's have none. On the B744 and B747-8 we had no cameras as they were optional.
