Maybe I'll make it to the Hilton for lunch but more likely will find myself in the Antique-Classic area at 11:50am on Tuesday, or in the exhibit buildings, or warbird parking, or...

We are planning to fly our Highlander back there and set up with Just Aircraft. We will be selling my video. Will try to make the get together, it sure was a good time meeting a bunch of you at Johnson Creek. :D

Re: Oshkosh 2010

Well, I happened to mention the BCP get-together on the LadiesLoveTaildraggers website, as they were planning a lunch at the same time. Highlander Lynn & I belong to, and wanted to meet, both groups, so combining the lunches seemed like a good idea. I don't know who or how many are coming, but it's probably 5-6. You'll find there's some pretty amazing women in the group!

Looking forward to meeting everybody!

Baloney is still baloney, no matter how thin you slice it.

Howdy.................

The addition of the "LadiesLoveTaildraggers" group sounds great. Dianne & I look forward to meeting them also. I'll have the Hilton add a few more chairs.

Re: Oshkosh 2010

I'd love to be able to come over and join y'all at the Hilton, but alas, duty calls. Raise a glass in the direction of the Homebuilders Hangar while you're enjoying lunch! And speaking of Homebuilders Hangar, that's a new venue in the Homebuilt area of convention. Many of you will recognize the building as the former location of the NASA displays (near the forums and workshops area, and just north of the Aces Cafe). We have now claimed the building for the Homebuilt nation! If any of you who are up in that neck of the woods during convention stop on in and say "hi". If I'm not in the hangar I'll be somewhere in the general area, and someone will know where I am.

Safe travels everyone, and enjoy the EAA convention!

Re: Oshkosh 2010

Might want to...

....stop by Sterling, Illinois enroute. The 'Last Time' group is having a gathering of DC-3s there. Up to 50 of the old birds are expected. Morning of the 26th they will form up for a mass flight to Osh Kosh. They will be at Sterling from the 24th until the 26th. Camping, BBQ and conversation. My wife and I are going up on the 25 and will be there early on the 26th to watch them leave.

Never again will there be such a large gathering of the aircraft. This is in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the DC-3. They will probably gather a few again in 25 years to celebrated the 100th anniversary. But if I am still around I'll be 88 and probably won't even remember what a 3 looks like! :D

Imagine up to 100 of those big old Pratts and Curtis Wright engines rumbling all at once. =D>

It is still on according to today's paper.

But the number has dropped to 30 or 35. Understand that Oshkosh wanted to limit it to 40 or less aircraft. Looking forward to seeing the aircraft.

I will be surprised if you see 10 of them at OSH this year with the current water problems...

Yeah,

And after more research it appears that pipepainter may have had more accurate info. It seems that the mass arrival at OshKosh is on again/off again ....as originally envisioned. The folks at Sterling, Il. are saying that on Monday morning all the 3's will take off, form up and do a mass flyover at Sterling....then land again.

It appears that some will go on to Osh Kosh. Others are so pissed that they say they will not go. We shall see.

It makes me sick that the EAA has ruined what should have been an incredible "once in a lifetime experience." I've been a member for 26 years but have just about lost interest. The EAA left it's roots behind long ago. Despite protestations to the contary....the EAA(at least at the upper levels) pay little heed to us small guys. It's about big iron, big money and politics.

My buddy has been a member since the mid 70's...used to go to Rockford in it's infancy. About 25 years ago we were at Osk Kosh....he pointed to the Jaguar Automobile display, which was new that year, and said....."well...there is the beginning of the end......"

Re: Oshkosh 2010

It would be great if EAA could control the weather, but they can't. There's just been so much rain that airplanes can't safely maneuver on the grass, and the North 40 is closed (among other areas). We're just waiting it out here, where there's been storms & rain for almost a week.

I hope I'll make it there in time for lunch on Tuesday.

I'm here. My first time here and it's an impressive spread but I'm told that participation is a fraction of usual levels due to the rain. Still a lot of cool planes to drool over!

Re: Oshkosh 2010

Hey, guys I'm almost there. Grab a lawn chair out by the active runway and score my landing in the morning. I will try to make the BCP crowd proud. I will be the red Tundra with the huge crack in the lower cowling unless it blows off by then. Tieing down in the Homebuilt Camping Area, if its not under water. Crashing the BCP lunch on tuesday, if you save me one spot at the table. Had to solo this trip as my wife could not make the trip.

Re: Oshkosh 2010

Hello All,

Trying to get to OshKosh from Canada but have been waiting on parking availability. The parking status now says that it is open but not for Twin engines or "Heavy Singles". Ok, all jokes aside, what is a "Heavy Single"? Are we talking PC12, TBM and Caravans? Trying to get there in a Bonanza. Also, if anyone else has additonal info for the event on parking/North 40 Camping, please "chime in". Thanks.
