Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

I was just in NJ last weekend. The Wx was almost perfect from Wed thru Monday :?

Alright, Rob...you've got me convinced I not only need to put the big tires on, but now I also have to get a video camera mounted on the Maule. =P~

Yeah I'm pretty happy with the Drift and the ram mount so far, super easy to use and you get some good quality video.

Re: PHOTOS - 1st Annual Nor Cal / Sierra Fly-In

ezflap. i was the only nosedragger pilot on sat. and i did 5 of the 9 landings. prop clearance is the greatest concern and secondly, the horsepower for take-off. not for landing. most of the guys are tailwheel with 2 feet of clearance(or more with bushwheels)and we have only about a foot at most. so there are places where i would just circle around and watch the other guys land, spend a few minutes circling, and then join them to go to the next landing which usually i could do. all things considered, well worth it!!! look forward to seeing another Noseguy. and as rob said, he has only 145 ponies also. john

Re: PHOTOS - 1st Annual Nor Cal / Sierra Fly-In

Thanks for the info Yellowbird - As mentioned in another thread, I've taken over an STC to convert the older 172's to tailwheel. Seeing these guys having that much fun (and beer) up there in NV and NorCal may just be too much for me to withstand, and I'll have to start working on converting to tailwheel. Probably gotta get rid of those 6.00 x 6 ballet shoes as well.

Re: PHOTOS - 1st Annual Nor Cal / Sierra Fly-In

Dang. you guys are having too much fun.

I am new to the forum. I have owned my '54 170B for 12 years, based at KCCR. I've flown it across the lower 48 a couple times, commuted in it for a few years to Silicon Valley (KPAO) and done some short dirt strip flying, but nowhere near enough of the last.
The Tahoe Sierra has always been one of my favorite playgrounds, but knowledge of all these little dirt strips and mountaintop landing sites has until now escaped me. Then randomly, I stumble across this thread in this forum... Looks like FUN.

cheers,

Pete

Re: PHOTOS - 1st Annual Nor Cal / Sierra Fly-In

Hi Pete- Welcome! I've got a '53 170B, and there are several others around this campfire too. I know a little something about climbing and hiking on the east side, but never got to do much flying there apart from an undistinguished attempt at learning to hang glide. Glad to have you on the forum.
